Ride report Oct 23rd
Well, we had the first team ride since the reformation.
Anaconda organized a shuttle run in the gorge.
The ride: Coyote canyon and Sinclare trail.
We all me up at the trailhead at 10:30. 7 riders, 7 bikes.
All of us sporting 5inch travel trail bikes. Perfect for this terrain.
Instead of pulling a 3 hour loop ride, tt was decided that we would shuttle as many runs as we could in the same time frame.
Thanks to the Chevy Colorado Truck that Jim and Karen had rented me, we were able to take one car to the top. 6 riders in the cab, and newbie riding with the bikes. This truck kicks ass.
The riders:
Puck
Anaconda
Clutch
BBA
Skids – Chad
Flats – Kenny (the newbie)
Struts – Al
The first run was slow as we all got our riding legs back and warmed up. It was a pretty uneventful on the way down. Unless you consider 3 flats exciting.. Flats and Struts each trying to outdo each other on who could get the most flats. Of course Flats won…
This was my first time on the CC and it was better than I could have hoped. Tight, tight single track. Smooth sections with technical-rock interruptions.
The 2nd run was faster. This was probably because Skids blew his front brake and had a grand time trying to control his speed on the tightness of CC. The flow opened up for us on this run. This trail has great lines and fun curves. You have to stay on it because this trail comes fast..
No flats on this run. Well, not until Flats tried to drop a cattle box to flat at the end of the trail. He stuck it but paid the price.. The guy is at least 3 tubes deep in karma he needs to pay back. It was his first showing. A damn impressive rider and good a addition. Welcome Kenny, now go buy some tubes..
3rd Run – Sincline.
Wow, if you are into riding lines that bring you so close to a cliffs edge that your balls hide in your throat, then this is your trail. Nice and smooth at the top with lots-o-speed. Followed by some of the best technical rocks I have ever seen. Keep the speed up, and you are fine. Slow down and you eat shit. I enjoyed a little dirt salad my self when I slowed to think about my line. No blood no harm.. About mid way down we came across a 4 ft drop. Nice tranny if you roll it. Uphill landing if carry too much speed. As we all stood around to see anybody brought their nads of steal and we willing to sacrifice a little skin, some DHer’s came through on 8 inchers (long travel bikes and gear) and that was just enough to help Anaconda find the bronze balls he had brought. 2 roll ins, and that was it. He hit it perfect. Even with my words of caution (some one had to play mom) he hit it again. BBA, always being up for a little “hairy” action, dropped it as well.
The rest of the down hill was awesome. Why anybody would want to ride up it is beyond me..
I was too burnt to ride the last run, so I shuttled up those who were riding, gathered the non-riders and headed for beers. The riders ran the Sinclare again and topped it in 18 minutes. It had taken us an hour the last time. They met us for beers and burgers.
It was great day. No injuries. Few mechanicals. Everyone had a good time and people pushed it..
Cheers
Puck

This came in from a fellow rider from the area, please, alway be curtious and if there is issues with an area, ride someplace else until they are resolved.. Puck
I got this web link about Shuttling at Syncline and Coyote Canyon.
You guys may want to check with some locals about access issues that are going to get very real; ie heavy trail usage (suttling) and complaints from home owners that live on the road to the land owners/managers about traffic associated with it.
I know I am far from squeaky clean, but with recent developments I will no longer shuttle it or promote it there.
Try Post Canyon where it is still OK. I would be happy to give a tour to those unfamiliar with the area to help reduce DH traffic on Coyote / Syncline.
